DeSantis Says "Happy Pride" By Proposing an End to Medicaid Coverage for Trans Adults

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis’ administration Thursday asked the state board regulating doctors to essentially ban transition-related care for transgender minors, according to a letter obtained by NBC News.

The state Health Department made the request hours after another state agency issued a 46-page report to justify banning Medicaid coverage for transgender people of any age who want puberty blockers, hormone therapies or gender-reassignment surgery.

The two-pronged effort, which ensures DeSantis can act quickly and without the need for legislative approval, drew instant opposition from activists and medical professionals. They have increasingly clashed with DeSantis, a Republican, as he seeks re-election and builds a national brand as a culture warrior and potential 2024 White House contender.

Leading the charge for DeSantis: Florida Surgeon General Joseph Ladapo, who oversees the Health Department.

Seriously.. I've had it with this nasty ball of fascist shit. I've had it with his cruelty in general. I've had it with his vicious attacks on the trans community specifically. I've had it with his name, his face, all of it. Every fucking day, it's one stupid or cruel thing after another from this guy.

To the good people of Florida (all 17 or so of you): I'm sorry that you're living in a fascist, third-world country disguised as "one of the 50 states."

I really hope all trans or non-binary people can get the hell out of Florida while they can. This guy's relentless attacks erase all doubt... He wants to wipe trans people out of existence. Period. Not "keep them out of sports" or "make them use the 'right' bathroom". He's trying to force all of them into "normality", or cause their death.

I never thought anyone would make me long for the days of Anita Bryant, but... Holy hell. This is Anita Bryant cranked up to 43.

All this said... No question, the ACLU and Lambda need to file more lawsuits. But... Can he legally step in and dictate what kind of health care an adult can receive, just because they are receiving Medicaid (which is a federal, not a state, program)? I mean, I doubt for one second that any government-issued insurance will cover transgender treatment in Florida (sadly, it doesn't in many states). So I would have to imagine an adult, Medicaid or not, is having to pay out of pocket anyway.. Does he have any fucking legal right to do this?

We know he is morally fucking wrong... But when is this thug morally right on anything?
