(12,555 posts)Especially when replaced my more SUVs. people still don't know how to drive the damn things. In my area, we see about 1-2 a WEEK rolled over. And they damn sure can't PARK them either.
I'll keep buying a car as long as I can. USED of course.
IronLionZion
(45,452 posts)the American companies decided to go all in on SUVs for higher profit margins, and that's what Americans keep buying. Not the best strategy during high gas prices, but they also have more hybrid and electric models these days.
oldsoftie
(12,555 posts)Just reverse the way it is now; make the electric motor the primary & have a small gas engine to keep it charged. My friend had a plug in Fusion & it averaged 70mpg. Imagine if it was primarily electric.
I've had foreign cars; my problem is that I prefer 2 door cars. I'm tall & thats all I've ever driven.

(12,555 posts)But I prefer 2 doors & now those are usually high end price wise. But I'll check to see what they have next time I'm looking. And I hope THAT won't be for several years!!

(6,254 posts)what Steve Jobs would say. Jobs was brilliant, nasty, quirky, a know it all, but its hard to think he would be as gullible as Musk. Time to cancel Musk. Its tragic that a man who can inspire others to do great things can be conned so easily by rw media. The average Fox viewer has no chance if they can turn Musk like this. Fox and rw media are our greatest national security threat. That includes social media as well that can melt down these idiots minds.

well now he actually has to work for al living by being competitive.
I have a feeling he's not going to do so well.

(21,487 posts)Musk's business isn't doing as well as he hoped. A lot of customer complaints. Other companies are giving Musk competition. So he is laying off people.

Elon Musk calls British diver in Thai cave rescue 'pedo' in baseless attack
Accusation directed on Twitter at Vern Unsworth, who called Tesla CEOs offer of mini-sub to help rescuers a PR stunt
The chief executive of the tech giant Tesla offered to assist the rescue mission by providing a submarine. The request was turned down. Musk lashed out on Sunday, saying he would make a video proving that his mini-sub would have been successful and adding: Sorry pedo guy, you really did ask for it.
On Sunday, when a Twitter user pointed out that Musk was calling the guy who found the children a pedo, the billionaire responded: Bet ya a signed dollar its true.
Intense criticism followed. Some Twitter users pointed out how dangerous and irresponsible it was to make such a serious allegation and to broadcast a potentially libelous insult to his 22 million followers.
Spokesmen for Musk and Tesla did not immediately respond to requests for comment. Later on Sunday, Musk deleted the pedo tweet and its follow-up.

(2,541 posts)But what are the Dems doing to explain to people why this is happening? Gas has gone up an avg of 5 cents a gallon a day here for the last 5 days. A 12 pack of Coke for $8.
I know President Biden has very little if any control of these things but many people think he does because they hear the GOP lie that its all Bidens fault when it isnt but unless the Dems start getting vocal about this and almost everything else the GOP is going to continue to blame them and it will work in Nov.
Seriously I do not understand the deafening silence by the Dems with Nov. right around the corner.
Justice matters.

(1,962 posts)If there is any "positive" from all of this, it's that many others are seeing Musk the same way some of us have for years. He's always been a transphobic, homophobic man-child.
That said, as great as your well-deserved snark was, President Biden? I'll see you and raise you this great Tweet:
