I wouldn't see any justification for granting him bail considering the reason he's in trouble is that he didn't show up for a hearing when he was legally required to.

Giving him bail so you could trust him again to show up for a hearing which he's legally required to attend...that just seems dumb on a large number of levels.

How he handled the situation with one of his players (Lionel Aldridge) who wanted to marry a woman he had been in a relationship with since their days in college. At the time, mixed race marriages were not well accepted but Lombardi was supportive of them and encouraged them to marry. Commissioner Pete Rozelle met with Lombardi and informed him that the marriage would be bad for the league and Lombardi curtly told him "this is my team, you can't tell me how to run it" (as told by Vicky Aldridge).

The crime has been on the books for about 85 years.

How many of those accused have ever received a year in prison?

You don’t have to have represented one of them to find out the answer.

OTOH - if, like former9thward, you had clients in lots of other federal cases… you would be more familiar with how sentencing decisions are made. You would be familiar with the sentencing commission’s table.

The offense is comparable to the middle of zone A (call it a four or a five). With no prior history… the guidelines say 0-6 months in prison (if he can be convicted at all)

the January 6 panel, Pelosi, Biden, etc. None of whom were intimidated into dropping the criminal contempt of congress charges by the lawsuit he filed against them claiming the subpoenas themselves were illegal. The federal grand jury that just indicted him of course disagreed.

CNBC: If convicted, Navarro faces a minimum possible sentence of 30 days in jail, and a maximum of one year, along with a fine of as much as $100,000, for each of the counts in the indictment. ... Faruqui ordered him to be released, with the condition that he checks in weekly with pre-trial services officials, and notify them of any plans he has to travel within the United States. Navarro will need permission to travel internationally. Navarro is next due to appear in court on June 17.

What he needs is a tRump pardon or a deal with the DoJ...
