USA Today via Yahoo NewsIf there is legislation on the table that is good for Florida Im going to support that legislation; if its bad for Florida or bad for Floridians, Im not going to support it, said Demings, who has served in Congress since 2016. Time and time again, we have seen (Rubio) play political games.
She cited Rubio, who joined with fellow Florida Republican U.S. Sen. Rick Scott in voting against the Biden administrations $1 trillion infrastructure bill last year. The package has brought billions of dollars of transportation, broadband and electric vehicle charging stations into the state.
Demings, who supported the legislation in the U.S. House, said Rubio was willing to hurt his state to side with fellow Republicans.

(6,698 posts)Val Demmings is a true public servant. She's respected by the people who live here. Always has been. Rubio is a shallow little putz. Shouldn't be a contest...but Florida. Please donate if you can.

What is the fall out if any regarding her house seat there?
Im very thankful that shes willing to run and I think she will be a fabulous senator, one for the ages.
Not second-guessing her, just curious, is she one of those whose district got disappeared?
Go Val!

(8,254 posts)The Orlando area went from 3 Biden voting districts down to 2. I'm not sure exactly how that would have impacted Val Demings specifically, but now the field is not so crowded for those 2 districts. Someone would have had a primary challenge, and it may have been Val Demings, but I'm not sure.
It's possible that the current gerrymandered map will eventually be struck down by the Court and may restore the 3 Biden voting districts as they were but I won't hold my breath.
