- He said his party "exists increasingly as a vehicle for the grievances of the angriest, oldest folks."
Sen. Ben Sasse of Nebraska gave a speech on Thursday evening that included heavy criticism of his own party, urging fellow Republicans to re-orient themselves away from the politics of grievance and towards a forward-thinking party in order to tackle global threats.
"The left wants a powerful, nameless but supposedly benevolent bureaucracy, the right wants a strongman daddy figure," said Sasse in a speech at the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library in California. "But the loudest of them all agree on one thing: America the one the founders gave us, the one kept for us by our parents and grandparents it doesn't work anymore."

(12,429 posts)They may be adults in many aspects of their lives but remain as spoiled children in their politics. This is because they have rejected the heroic role themselves, with all the minuscule sacrifice that entails, and seek another as the hero who can keep their own, safe little world from long-overdue transformation. Once an adult looks to others to be their hero, they can choose no other role than victim.

(2,529 posts)and they need to back a winner - like TFG who was the bestest and smartest and richest (even though we all know he isn't any of those things).
If they back a "winner" like TFG, that makes them a winner too.
F*cking losers.

(75 posts)Could't have said at any better myself. and while we're on the subject the GOP should really change its name to be truly reflective of its current make up. I think the should give the DPD Dependent Personality Disordered a whirl. They depend largely on someone to tell them how truly great they are (even though he actually despises them) They depend on him for validation and his promises to take are of their needs) as he prattles on about Counter Culture and the Great Replacement theory. Some of these people were my friends, some are my still relatives and there is no point talking with them. Its about as satisfy as bouncing your head a brick wall. Many of these people were people that I have loved, and cared about and most of them are intelligent people? At least there was a time I really felt that way.Oh well that's it I can only do this in small doses these days. Too emotionally exhausting.
I am pau for now. Peace

I kind of like the fact that we have an Army and the Social Security Administration and the SEC.
