ENCINCO, LOS ANGELES. (KABC) -- Several people were stabbed at Encino Hospital Medical Center Friday afternoon and a suspect remained barricaded inside.

At least three people were believed to be seriously injured.

Los Angeles Police Department officers and Los Angeles Fire Department paramedics responded to the scene.

Authorities were transporting the stabbing victims to a trauma center.

At least one of the victims being wheeled out of the facility appeared to be wearing a hospital uniform and another appeared to be a patient. Both were alert and conscious as they were loaded into ambulances.

The suspect is said to still be barricaded in the hospital and not in custody. A SWAT team was on the way.

They'll probably survive. Shot with a gun they most likely would've died.

I'll take it.

For fear of being mowed down en masse by the maniac's.............knife. So when the gun humpers all start piling on to this story, just remind them that 3 injured people < 19 dead people. And if they want to make the argument that knives are JUST as dangerous as guns, then kindly explain to me how a knife-wielding maniac would have killed 75 concertgoers from his hotel room in Las Vegas.

And by the way, when I saw this headline, the first thing I thought of was all the gun nuts as Matthias saying, "Could be worse. They could be stabbed."

...
After several hours of a standoff, the suspect was taken into custody and taken into an ambulance shortly after 8 p.m.
...
LAPD said two nurses and a doctor were injured during the incident.

The suspect was said to be barricaded in the hospital for hours. A SWAT team arrived and entered the building, eventually apprehending the suspect.

A spokesperson for the LAPD said the suspect has a prior criminal record. Authorities said he had previously been arrested twice, most recently for battery of a police officer and resisting arrest sometime last year.

There is no information that makes authorities believe the suspect has any prior relationship with the victims.
