they call it 'the golden hour'. the cops in uvalde pissed it away.

i keep waiting for even one of the talking heads to use that term.
in trauma care they call it 'the golden hour'. if you can get a trauma victim into surgery w/in the 1st hour, their chances of survival are good. after that, their chances tick away.
that's why, for the last 20 yrs, we have been building trauma centers all over this country for the victims of these obscenities. and they have worked miracles.
the one is san antonio cleared the decks, expecting at least a dozen transfers. i believe they got 2.

you cant tell me cops dont know that. there has been almost zero discussion of the wounded, beyond the number- i think it was 17. i've only heard of 1 girl being released from the hospital.
i didnt see a lot ambulances or fire trucks at the seen, but i admit i havent rly searched the pics.
i want the stories of the kids who didnt have to die, but bled out on the floor while cops shook and wobbled.
and i want to know about the wounded. i want those lives on the tab here.

Fucking coppers want to claim the power to kill at will, hell, many get off on it, yet the berks wet the bed many times when they have to assume the normal job responsibility of deadly risk to themselves. Fuck 'em.

I also read a gut wrenching story of the pediatric hospital in San Antonio clearing beds in anticipation of a mass casualty event that never arrived.

As a certified medic we were required to arrive on scene, assess, load, and leave within 10 minutes. Every minute is, literally, critical within that golden hour.

Getting patients to a facility was job one, keeping them alive on the way was a close second. But they needed to get to a hospital.

i believe that hour includes everything til the 1st cut, but i could be wrong.
it does take time to assemble a full team sometimes, plus the whole presurg routines.
so, yeah, if you guys can keep it under 10 min, that's crucial.

Uvalde cops have closed ranks and are looking for all sorts of excuses to avoid investigation because they know how badly they handled the situation. They're trying to pretend the rest of the world doesn't already know that they let kids die on their watch, kids who might have been saved if they'd taken action.

Add it to cops's criminal negligence charges.

the size of Uvalde had a guy on it that was always the LAST to show up at the scene of an emergency.

Not surprising the rest show up but are slacking.

It lets the Republicans and the NRA escape blame by redirecting it toward police and other vital institutions.
