Our county supervisor of elections response to rightwing threats
Our county supervisor of elections spoke to our Democratic Women's Club chapter this afternoon. A large crowd was there to hear from her. We are Democrats in a small, red Florida county. She is a Republican, long time elections office worker, elected to the supervisor role in 2020.
Her predecessor is the only Republican I've ever voted for. She was an exemplary elections official who modernized our processes, inspired teenagers to register to vote and worked with anyone and everyone to support free and fair elections.
Her replacement seems more wonky but as dedicated. She spoke about the security upgrades they've made and how they've adapted to DeathSentence's new election laws.
In Q&A, I asked her about the reports that right wing groups were training people to apply for poll worker positions so they could challenge Democratic voters and disrupt the process. She sincerely thanked me for the question and said she'd have any worker who behaved that way escorted out of the precinct by security. 
Another person asked her if she'd received threats from the Big Lie crazies. She paused and said, "I'm strong. I can handle this job." A followup: "does that mean you are receiving threats?" "Yes."
She's a Republican, folks, in a county that almost never elects Democrats these days. There is no threat to these idiots but they are still doing this shite here.
