Death threats to county commission candidates

My second OP of the evening about my Democratic Women's Club chapter meeting today. Here's the first:

One of the many guests in our audience today was a young woman who had recently filed to run for county commission. She is one of 2 Democrats to file in the last week for different districts.

Both withdrew their candidacies before the week was out.

Why?

This woman said she was getting threatening phone calls every 10 minutes from the moment she filed her paperwork. Then, members of the "Club 45" group started driving to her house and harassing her 2 children, ages 5 and 7.

She withdrew her candidacy. She acknowledged that she should have gone to police but she is a mother of 2 young children. The other candidate, a young man with young children, experienced the same.

Again, this is a ruby red county. These Democrats had little to no chance of succeeding but at least they were trying. Still, the psychopaths couldn't even let them run.

Shit is real, my friends.

It could be a little clearer to everyone else if the "club 45" group actually used those words, but I think their actions speak for themselves and what they have become.

I have been in meetings when the gop types said crazy shit. I am sorry that these candidates felt that they needed to drop out.

In 2018, we did not run candidates in a good number of judicial races and the GOP lost every contested seat and only won uncontested seats. In 2020 we picked up all contested county wide races. this cycle, all races are contested, and we should pick up most if not all of the contested steats

States can change aid I am hopeful that Texas will be blue this cycle

20. Our local Democratic party works hard to at least get Ds on the ballot

Knowing the odds are against them. This just makes it so much harder.

One of my sister Democratic Women's Club members has just filed for school board. It's non-partisan but easy enough to figure it out. I'm hoping she can hold firm, but she's a single woman of a certain age.
