I'm sure the Committee is debating about what is the best way to present their investigation?

There are likely several ideas.

In my opinion, they should present it as much as possible from the perspective of Mike Pence. He was a central figure in the entire scheme to overturn the election. He was the central figure in certifying the electoral votes as to who would be the next President,

Someone suggested Dan Quayle as a surprise witness at the hearings. The only other witness that would be more powerful would be Mike Pence. This is not a comment on the leadership qualities of either man, but more in the interest of the people that need to hear the story.

The story should have a focal point. What was the attempted over-throw of the government about? Who was involved? How were they involved? How many people were leaders in the conspiracy and how many were simply followers?

The story should not make January 6th the focal point, in my opinion. It should be about what led up to January 6th. That is the story.

I doubt they decided how to do it "a long time ago".

Lies repeated and words directing someone to commit a crime for personal benefit, has consequences. Rule of law is the bedrock of functioning Democracy. Without accountability for the crimes committed or planned, would be undermining the Republic.

"Over and over, Pence asked if there was anything he could do.
"'Mike, you have no flexibility on this. None. Zero. Forget it. Put it away,' Quayle told him.
"Pence pressed again.
"'You don't know the position I'm in,' he said, according to the authors.
"'I do know the position you're in,' Quayle responded. 'I also know what the law is. You listen to the parliamentarian. That's all you do. You have no power.'"

so they have an idea about "what worked" and maybe "what didn't". I expect they may try to do it as a chronology.

But note that only the first and last ( tentatively- ) scheduled hearings are going to be done "in primetime", so it would not surprise me that the first will be like a "prologue (summary) " and the last will be like a "epilogue (summary) ".

I'm worried if no one is prosecuted, it might as well have never happened.

does the J6 committee have to bundle it all up after the hearings and send a package to the DOJ requesting prosecution, have they already done so?

Either we have it or we don't.

The last few years have been nothing less than a criminal, Mafia-like environment in the highest office in the land.

and then rewind to the election backstory..the multi-pronged plot to nullify Joe Biden's win, and then move forward to January 6..I'm a big fan of whodunit detective stories...this one promises to be the granddaddy of them all..true crime played out in real time...
