Oh shit, I just read the article and my house was a block away from where someone was shot...
"About 50 minutes later, a man was found nearby on the 1300 block of Waverly Street unconscious with multiple gunshot wounds."

I *know* it had to be packed down there. Somewhat warmish late spring night without blasting heat/humidity, weekend, colleges out, high schools soon to be out.
I know I used to hang out down there on weekends during high school and college and on occasion, on and off after that.
And yeah, the cop presence has ALWAYS been there for many decades. ALWAYS.

(129,082 posts)I don't think they're down there with their kids and grandkids...
I think they may be over at the newer venues (that I haven't been to) - the Spruce St. Harbor Park -
Then there's the Race St Pier - https://www.delawareriverwaterfront.com/places/race-street-pier
and the Cherry St. Pier (that I never heard of but looks interesting) - https://www.cherrystreetpier.com/
