They have devolved into tribalism. Why engage them with policy debate?

There was a time in this country not so long ago when political and social issues could be discussed and argued, often with compromise or a change of course as the result. Those days have ended.

For one side, it's all about drumming up emotionalistic response with loaded rhetoric (see - rapism and racism), and flooding the discussion with lies (baffle 'em with bullshit). Why should anyone feel the need to legitimize reptilian thinking with a show of honest debate? They aren't interested in facts, and neither are the unfortunates who continue to vote for them.
