If we recall, he was asked by a reporter if he had been concerned about his VP's security while the rioters were over-taking the Capitol? He said he was told that he was safe and there was no problem. He wasn't worried about that.
Who would have told him about Pence if he was not on the phone with someone? Who would that have been?
Also, he was watching television a lot. One witness had stated that he would rewind and watch the good parts over. He was thoroughly enjoying it.
In my opinion, they will discover that Trump was on the phone with the Secret Service to monitor the location of Pence? He wanted him out of the building and out of the area. How many times would he have called the Secret Service?
It has already been reported that he had a phone call with Kevin McCarthy. It was the moment that he told McCarthy that maybe the rioters cared more about the country than he did. Also, it was reported that he was attempting to call newly-elected Senator Tuberville and accidentally called Utah Senator Mike Lee.
I think we will discover that he was on the phone several times during the missing 187 minutes? I suspect we may find that out during these hearings.

(6,535 posts)like he maybe chickened out at the last minute, as far as the final steps to complete a coup--well that and the people at the Capitol not quite making a full-on violent assault.
I would assume the next steps would have been for him to declare an emergency, send troops in to control the situation at the Capitol (presumably after most of the Democratic members along with Pence had been dispensed with), shut down the internet and take control of all broadcast media, declare martial law and give the Proud Boys and MAGAts across the country the go-ahead to do their part at the local level to suppress any reaction.

(46,735 posts)Give him a clip of the good parts that just replays over and over again. Life will never peak like that for him ever again.

(15,122 posts)Not because he was concerned for the VP's safety, but to ensure that he was whisked away and unable to fulfill his Constitutional Duty. Chuck Grassley was prepared to step in and fuck the whole thing up - as he had been instructed.
Hopefully we will learn more of this detail during the hearings.
Damn, but I want Trump to fry!
