https://www.nbcnews.com/politics/donald-trump/trump-brink-rcna31774WASHINGTON Former President Donald Trump is bored at Mar-a-Lago and anxious to get back in the political arena as a candidate, not a kingmaker according to his advisers, who are divided over whether he should launch a third bid for the presidency as early as this summer.
The article states that no final decision has yet been made. There are rumblings about a July 4th announcement, but those are denied.
Nevertheless, the reporting from Jonathan Allen, if you take the article in its entirety, seems to indicate that a Trump run is all but certain at this point and it's only the timing that is in question.

(1,835 posts)The upcoming Jan. 6 hearings are all that kept me sane after reading this news tonight, which was pushed to my iPod as a notification for some reason. I certainly didn't need to know this. Posting it here as a way to try to deal.

(31,045 posts)So is this what the Republicans are gonna give us for candidates now? Billionaires who are so bored they have to run for office just to keep interested in life. Never mind what they think they can do for the country, that dont care

(13,903 posts)he is jonesing. You would think fleecing the cult for millions would keep interested a bit though.

(153,193 posts)and then there's Jan 6 - he should not be able to run if he does not believe in the process

(7,857 posts)he's a known entity, now..he's not coming out of nowhere and he has a reprehensible track record...Trump misses the "toys" that come with the Oval Office, his revenge pulpit..and the asshole assumes if he announces all his legal troubles go away..

(10,242 posts)Maybe his only successful scam. The rubes will line up to send him money. But I suspect a lot of the big donors will stay away.

(1,835 posts)I'd welcome the midterm being a referendum on Trump rather than Biden. It could change the outcome entirely.

(17,636 posts)If convicted, and jailed of any other felony, he could campaign from prison. (but that is the the legal opinion of a plumber)

(4,834 posts)Best thing for the Democrats. The guy will take down the GOP with him whether it is Biden or any other new comer with any sense. People now know Trump and he will never again be President.

(12,483 posts)1) He's not their strongest candidate.
DeSantis, Noem or Haley would be a more serious candidate.
2) He'd bring the HATE and division to a boil again.
3) He's easy to run against... look at voter turnout in 2020

(16,254 posts)don't forget how the states have changed their rules on how to handle electoral votes if they don't like the way the election turned out. They have a lot of time to fine-tune their laws before 2024.
I'm more afraid of the 2022 and 2024 elections than I've ever been in my life.

(22,048 posts)Trump is bored so he wants to run for president. So we should elect him because he can't figure out what to do with himself?
Trump has amassed more money than both the RNC and the DNC combined! Of course he wants to be a candidate! What else is he going to do with that money? (Yeah, I know. Grift it.)
The second and third paragraphs are contradictory. Either "no final decision has yet been made" OR "a Trump run is all but certain" is true. They are opposites.
Regardless, the only things that will stop Trump from running are he dies, he's indicted in multiple jurisdictions or he knows he'll lose.

(54,436 posts)And that would be the Republican party. They couldnt field a more divisive, incompetent candidate. Make America Groan again.
Besides, if he still insists he won in 2020, the Constitution clearly states he cant be elected to a third term.

I think three-fourths of America would be perfectly happy to never hear his name again. tRump just misses all the money he makes off campaigning and the rush he gets from rally crowds.
Rethugs, you let that snake in the door so now live with it!...........

(32,088 posts)The donations to his PAC must be falling off. They're teasing in to get their suckers' hopes up, so that they'll start contributing more. If he was going to run again, he never would have sold his DC hotel/cash cow.
