(38,561 posts)Meaning, for instance, a majority of the Supreme Court? If that's what you mean, I'm down with it. Otherwise, it's just more noise.

(1,000 posts)Way back in the day, the people I worked with actually hunted for winter freezer meat. Fifteen bucks an hour back in the eighties was still a tight budget, if livable in a two paycheck family.
I inherited my love of tramping through the woods with my favorite Mom sibling, her younger brother the hunter, who spent more time enjoying the woods and killing more cans than he ever did anything else, and he used the rifle his grandpa gave him from WWI era. That is my idea of "sportsman."

(10,106 posts)I used to work with people who hunted and froze the meat for what they called excellent eating. Deer meat is too gamey for me taste, but to each his own.
Hunters are also allowed to shoot feral hogs at specific times. Feral hogs can be a real problem in many areas because there are far too many of them. Not only do the rip up lawns and sprinkler systems, but they are a real danger to pets and to small children. Theyre quite vicious animals.
I have no objection to such people having guns, but they dont use military assault weapons. No one outside the military needs such weapons. And yes, it was a perverted Supreme Court and Justice Scalia who opened the door to so many mass murders.

(1,000 posts)and needs to be. You don't want over population on deer, they will starve. And honestly as much as I can pick on Ohio, we have Gym Jordan after all, a vast amount of land in Ohio is still undeveloped and beautiful.
So yes, we still have game wardens. Our local schools give excused absence for kids to go on hunt during hunting season. My only problem with hunting season is the Budweiser and bullets crowd, the YAY hoos who go out and shoot up anything that moves. My house was the only one in either direction for a mile in the front of huge field and woods so I would have "hunters" chasing deer into my yard and shooting at the house. Trappers put traps in my stream where my kids played and all they caught was my kids cat. The kid up the road who accidently shot himself in the butt and blamed other hunters, and after it was investigated, he was the only one hunting in the area at that time, on his Dad's land-forever known in the neighborhood as "Quick Draw."

(14,496 posts)We have a collective moral void layered with gross hubris in our nation.
Republicans say how dare we threaten the safety and well-being of poor innocent gun manufacturers?
Strange that I've never seen a gun manufacturer personhood attacked with an assault rifle while shopping at their parts suppliers or while worshiping at a NRA meeting.

(1,000 posts)We aren't talking "responsible" gun ownership! We would not tolerate that level of irresponsibility for vehicle ownership because of the level of financial liability that would incur, and they are not meant to be weapons-even though we have violent angry people doing that now!
