General Discussion
Related: Editorials & Other Articles, Issue Forums, Alliance Forums, Region ForumsI had coffee with Gov Sisolak of Nevada today...
1. Nevada's political situation is impacted by the new leadership of the Democratic Party; there are essentially TWO Party structures working at cross purposes.
2. Critical issues are crime and the prices of groceries and gas. Not immigration. Not January 6th.
3. The national Party and the Administration needs to do a better job at messaging what Democrats are actually doing.
4. Nevada now has universal vote by mail, but response is low. What can be done to encourage turnout?

(26,404 posts)Do not understand #1 - without more details not sure if this is a Nevada thing, or a National trend.
Agree with #2, though I think the economy is probably takes the majority of attention. That said, I have seen Republicans trying to lump a lot of things into crime which does involve the homeless, immigrants and the race card.
#3 - Definitely agree.
#4 - Going to have to make it readily available and show it is being used without an issue . Advertise it as being easy and something you can do without having to wait to vote in line and in person. Generate soft news of nursing home residents voting that way.
Last year the Democratic Socialists took control of the Nevada State Party from people affiliated with former Senator Harry Reid. They have less apparent interest in the nuts and bolts of turning out voters and more on pushing a progressive-left policy position whether it fits with the election districts or not.
The Susan Sarandon approach to politics - alienate as many people as possible in the name of purity.

Both sides throughout all of this have been too stubborn to work with one another. Making the new NV leadership the sole villain in this whole thing is just not true.

Heres a message
. Classrooms filled with children keep getting blown away and people STILL vote for the people that want to do nothing. How do you reach those people?
