Lost power about 6 pm Sunday, power still out (I am on generator, a laptop, about 8 miles of extension cords) though parts of the area here and there have been restored. Radio only since then so I haven't seen any video of the storm yet.

Storm was very tame in my area of northeast NJ about 5 miles from the GW Bridge (practically no rain throughout, before or after) until about 5 pm Sunday and all of a sudden it sounded like a freight train coming through. Trees, phone poles down everywhere, wires hanging like spaghetti all over the place. No damage to my house but several neighbors got whole trees or limbs come down on their houses. Streets were impassable with fallen trees until this morning and some are still blocked. Found an open gas station with power this morning and refilled the gas cans (after an hour wait) so I am good for another day or slightly more on the generator.

My son had a river on his street in Hoboken and water got upto 4 feet from the bottom of the floor of his condo (2nd floor). Brother's home in Ship Bottom area (shore side of Long Beach Island) amazingly OK. Spent yesterday clearing branches from the yard.

From what I hear south Jersey is a complete mess and it may take a month to get power, phones, roads, etc. to anything resembling normal.

Up here in the north worst affected was Hoboken, half underwater, and people in Bergen County about 10 miles from here in Moonachie, Carlstadt and Lyndhurst who had to be rescued by boat and jet ski due to a levee break on the Hackensack River (which feeds into the Hudson River).

Mrs Devil's office building in Jersey City on the waterfront partially under water, no trains, Hudson Tubes submerged, no Path trains either.

The center of the storm hit about 160 miles to the south so I can't imagine what it must be like in AC or that whole area but it must be awful.

Time does slow down without power and the regular activites of life.

I didn't have damage to my house but we did loose the beach house.

Just have to take it one day at a time.

Time will heal.

I lost some dear friends because of Ike, they didn't leave in time.

Sandy has bought back a lot of memories for me.

Hope you get your power back soon.

We didn't have power for two weeks, it was hot.

The Houston area just came to a halt for awhile.

Life will return but damn I miss my friends and the beach house.

I haven't been back to Galveston much since then, not the same.

Take care and just try to relax, nothing wrong with a little down time.
