Batons

Batons - I've noticed this before and saw it again last night in footage at the January 6th hearing.

There are a few instances of the rioters grabbing or wrestling batons out of the Capital Police’s hands. The cops held the batons and used them to try to stop or move the rioters. Standard technique I’d guess. There is one shot of a cop actually swinging the baton - the arc entrance where hockey sticks And crutches were used by the rioters.

Would cracking some heads have inflamed an already violent and heated mob? Perhaps. I’m no expert on police training or tactics. I have seen recent examples of cops swinging batons quite freely namely in 2020 at protests/riots late at night and on June 1 clearing the way for a photo op.

Just an observation.
