(4,795 posts)I sit here in front of a plastic screen ran by energy--which is intended to tell me what energy derived products I must buy with my energy derived debt notes--watching a green-house effect driven storm presented in almost an entertaining light, which is being politicized proactively by two opposing infinite-growth believing parties who want to press every point without formally mentioning the words "global warming" (certainly not in the televised debates). And through all this insanity, we are driven to do whatever we must (on an energy scale) to hold together this energy hungry machine that is poisoning our world; a point paid far less attention then who gets to be at the helm to drive forth the growth we've grown to expect and demand from our economy.
I'm not begrudging disaster relief. My mind is far to arbitrary to do such a thing anymore. Im simply talking shit and celebrating my inability to make sense of anything anymore.

(14,881 posts)recovery efforts are well underway, we, as a country, will finally have that *serious talk* that has been long overdue since the prescient Pres. Jimmah was replaced by mornin' in merca St. Ronnie.
Right now, I work toward the re-election of the Prez. After the electoral results are ensured, I'll start working on that next step.

(4,795 posts)Thatd be great. I don't see it. If anything, I see government trying to desperately hold it all together until the last moment, when everything unravels in a seriously bad way. I have no crystal ball

(4,795 posts)Why? Its ridiculous. Sure, I've used this thread to evoke a very important tangent that is unpleasant to think about. But shouting someone down by calling them inhuman is equally disturbing in its own right.
It seems we can only use events to promote issue discussion if its in a pre-approved way?

(473 posts)They flew the bucket trucks down on a big Russian plane and we flew down after. We rotated in two week shifts. Man it was hot down there. I don't remember the type of plane but it was big enough to put two bucket trucks side by side on it.
Our crews now are mostly in Long Island.
