It's a razor-thin race here!!!
If we lose Governor the Repub promised voter ID laws and there will be further cuts to one of the finest university systems in the country. How well we pull it off for Obama will determine how we stand in the state.
This was in an email sent to county office from state:
--------PPP's newest North Carolina poll finds the state all tied up for a second week in a row: Barack Obama and Mitt Romney are each at 49% and virtually no voters remain undecided.
Here is what Democrats need to focus on: Among those who report already having voted he's ahead by a 58/41 margin. Romney leads 58/40 with those who haven't voted yet.
This means that Democrats must continue to turn out during early voting and turn out STRONG on election day.
Democrats must show up to the polls on Tuesday in order for us to even have a chance. If we can neutralize their Election Day margin by even a few points, President Obama can win.-----
DU friends and patriots....Our GOTV here in Mecklenburg County has been unbelievable - the few in the news media who are noticing have been spot on about our results - we're doing record numbers and the effort will continue nonstop thru election day.
Please help us CONTINUE our record-breaking turnout efforts without pause - donate anything you can to Mecklenburg County Dem Party's GOTV. Every tank of gas, every gallon of gas can be all the difference in the world.
We're the New South - the New Democratic South.

(3,491 posts)Donated $20 to your cause this week. We're working hard in Guilford County as well. I'm going all in Sunday thru Tuesday to GOTV along with many others. Wish I could do more but there are bills to pay.

(22,785 posts)My eyes are on North Carolina. grantcart has been providing those spreadsheets from the early voting there and I click to them the second I see them when I come to the DU.
I'm obsessed with North Carolina because I have never seen a more organized GOTV as what I'm seeing there.
North Carolina Democrats are amazing!

(53,061 posts)North Carolina Democrats are the most inspiring in the country.
A victory there breaks the back of the Republicans in a dozen different ways.
If they lose North Carolina their entire strategy will be discredited.

(52,589 posts)I worked on her campaign in 1996 when she won office against Richard Petty. She told me to help call Democrats at her office these last few days (it's about getting the vote out now and making sure all our people get to the their precincts).

(113,083 posts)their own. Students and unemployed are the ones with the time but the least amount of dollars to spare. Election day is going to be the big crunch, of course. Just like everywhere else. Just had some news - Michelle Obama is coming on Monday. The Dems know we still have a chance to pull through in NC. YEAH!!!!!! Jill Biden on Friday AND Michelle on Monday.

(19,841 posts)VA and NC have always been kinda like sister states (similar history and geography and degree of blue evolution). SC is kinda like our other little sister but we don't know what's wrong with her...
that would be a great thing to see.
