?1351720881First there's New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie, who managed to not only trump Ann Romney at the Republican National Convention, but also spend his entire speech talking about anyone except Mitt Romney.
Yesterday, he was all about keeping Mitt Romney the hell away and praising President Barack Obama. On Fox, he practically spit on the hosts when they asked when Romney would join Christie to tour hurricane damage:
And on NBC Today:
Today, he was all about loving Obama as the two toured damage together.
They couldn't have been too happy about that at Romney HQ. Or in the wingnutosphere.

I'm willing to bet he secretly wants Obama to win(and maybe even voted for him, too) so he will get a chance in 2016.

(5,256 posts)That lady receiving a hug from the president looks just devastated. I hope she was cheered by the president and Christie visiting and the help that FEMA is offering.
I'm sure that somewhere, deep down, some of Christie's behavior is motivated by thoughts about his political future, but since he's ALSO being completely classy and doing the right thing in the process, I don't care. Good for him.
And, of course, the president looks and is acting . . . completely presidential. In contrast to some other people I could name. I'm pretty sure the Mittbots know that this awful tragedy is the final nail in that empty suit's coffin.

(8,377 posts)This may be one such event for Christie. I'll give him the benefit of the doubt that everything he is saying is genuine. Indeed, his candor has never really been questioned. People don't like him because he is TOO blunt sometimes.
I can't see myself ever agreeing with his broad political philosophies. But I also know the country goes through pendulum swings. We don't always elect people I agree with. It would have been a horrendous mistake to elect Romney or any of the other fools that were in the Republican primary with him.
But if I had to live with a President Christie or a President Bloomberg, I would get through that.
I mean really, either of them would be a lot better than:
President Cain
President Huckabee
President Perry
President Palin
President Bachmann
President Gingrich
President West
etc.

(6,452 posts)I think Christie is realizing that. Hopefully he sees how much of a safety net the government can really provide and internalizes that fact moving forward in his political career.

I might eat crow later, but I think Christie has evolved. We'll see.
