We've heard Bill Barr, along with other Trump administration lawyers and advisors telling the Jan-6 Committee how they knew Trump was spewing bullshit about a 'stolen election'.
What we don't know is how many of them conspired to keep that knowledge to themselves. Was there a conspiracy-like agreement among them to remain silent, and keep the populace in the dark?
If so, are they not just as guilty of conspiring against the American people, thereby aiding the overthrow of democracy by withholding that information, as Trump and the insurrectionists who attacked the Capitol?
We know the people who were aware of what was going on behind-the-scenes at the WH, but kept silent until they could secure a tell-all book deal.
What we don't know is how many did so, but wound up never getting the book deal they sought. A handful? A few dozen? Fifty? A hundred? How many Trump administration 'insiders' sat on pertinent information they hoped they could profit from with an after-the-fact best-seller that was never published?
Listening to people like Barr is like listening to Hitler's inner circle speaking up after the Nazis were defeated. "Well, sure, we knew he was a mentally-unstable madman - but honestly believed it was best to keep that information on the down-low."
Bill Barr and his ilk are latter-day-hero wannabees, hoping that the country recognizes their heroic efforts to put out a raging fire a year and a half after the building they were allegedly trying to save had already burned to the ground.
And that is particularly egregious in view of the fact that they failed to call the fire department, because they were too busy fanning the flames.
