Years if Reagan and other GOP "The government is the problem" has brought us to this moment in our nation's history.
A serious question is "Why do so many people who immigrate here soon gaining entry and even citizenship, quickly join the ranks of the GOP and their anti-government movement? I don't get it. Our government is by no means perfect. Just ask a few black Americans whose roots go back to the 1600-1700s. Truth is that the GOP and their conservative base rant about the government being a problem as the rake and defraud the coffers of the very government they seem to despise for trying to help the underserved.
"Subsidies for me but not for thee" seems to be the MO of the so-called capitalists. Corporations never would think about reducing their profits and dividends a point or two for the good of the nation and the majority of the people. Even doing so would leave them with RECORD PROFITS. Yes, most voters seem to not care. I believe it's because they don't know and never will be told in a way they can understand and accept. I have hurt my brain trying to explain to even some family members that if a billionaire pays a minimum of 15% income taxes, even on unearned income, they will still and forever be billionaires. The most likely way they will no longer be billionaires is thru scamming each other out of billions, investing in pseudo currency, using their money against the US government that made them billions.

They have no problem with big government as long as it lines their pockets and controls those they see as their lessers.
It isn't about freedom but about maintaining individual power.
