Tesla has increased the price of its cars in the US amid ongoing supply chain issues.
The company's wesbite previously showed the price of the Model X as $114,990 and currently shows a price of $120,990, representing a rise of $6,000. The Model Y long-range increased from $62,990 to $65,990, according to Tesla's website.
The company raised the price of its cars several times in 2022, hiking the price of its cheapest car by $10,000 over the last year.
The most recent price hikes come amid wider concerns over how the company is being impacted by economic issues.

(17,183 posts)Yo, Elon: Even if I could afford it, there's no way in hell I'd spend $120,000 on a friggin' car.

(19,066 posts)Drove a Model 3, 0-60 in 3.1 seconds. Outside of the acceleration is a shoddy product. Feels like an economy car, does not handle well, feels boxy. I think they hide the quality problems behind some cool cell phone like applications the car does.
If I had $60K to spend on a car, virtually any other vehicle in that price range will be higher quality with more comfort features.
The 0-60 in 3.1 was unreal though, that's like super car performance. Musk is going to drive Tesla Motors into the ground and soon. The major car companies are passing Tesla in quality and reliability for EVs and at better prices with better service. It's just a matter of time before Teslas are a novelty, they're going to go the way of the Gremlin or Corvair. Tesla does not have the manufacturing engineering capability to keep up with Ford, GM, VW, Toyota etc. Those companies have production models that have been hones over decades and sharpened competing against each other, Tesla cannot compete.
And Tesla just laid off 10% of their workforce when they can't make deliveries, how dumb is that?
Tesla parlayed their battery technology into a successful car company, but their battery technology is no longer a differentiating competitive advantage for them.

(13,556 posts)Lots of other brands are making EVs. For a better price.
Plus you can still get the federal rebate on many of them, like Kias and Hyundais.
Chevy has lowered the price of the Bolt.
My Kia PHEV has almost all the bells and whistles you can get in any car.

(10,903 posts)When it was introduced, the Bolt was $37k, and the unreleased Model 3 was promised to be $35K.
Years later, the Bolt is $10K less expensive while the Model 3 is $20k more. Sure, it could be argued that the Model 3 is a better car, but absolutely not $30k better.
