(82,849 posts)The committee is doing a great job of keeping the popular media outlets on the hook, wanting more. In spite of the commentary and opinionating that none of this really matters, the media are clearly tuned in.
As long as the committee keeps its promises and delivers the goods, they'll keep that attention. Another bit of proof that the hearings are having an impression is that the former guy is now whining about getting equal time.

(9,760 posts)Not saying it's not happening, just wondering where. FoxNoose, I'd guess. Where else?

(82,849 posts)The trolls are out in force, denying the plain evidence that everyone can see. One guy posted that it was a fact-free circus. I responded, "But enough about the former guy's defense, what did you think of the testimony of all his 'best people'?" He ghosted for some reason.

(9,760 posts)Little depresses me more than reading or hearing those cultists express their belligerent ignorance. At best, they're babbling morons, at worst, they are terrifyingly hateful, blood thirsty thugs.
As actual facts are truly an existential threat to them, I'm not surprised you were able to spook one with reference to the truth. I wonder if they were smart enough to get your meaning about tfg's defense being the fact-free circus. They are often so clueless, I wonder how they manage to get through daily life.
gratuitous
(82,849 posts)I don't make it my life's work, but I have found a well-placed response now and then can totally derail the trollery, and let the other readers know that they're being taken for a ride.

(12,276 posts)what kinda sign is that ...
Stone loves orgies, that sign is saying (my opinion) - come play with me.
Effete Snob
(8,387 posts)But this is a well-known sign for "White Power" in that the fingers form a "W" and a "P".
Yes, it is a sign that may have other meanings in other context, such as "okay" or a three-point shot in basketball. However, none of the persons pictured are playing or watching basketball, so let's skip the bullshit there.
You may find this article informative:
https://www.splcenter.org/hatewatch/2018/09/18/ok-sign-white-power-symbol-or-just-right-wing-troll
From its adoption first by white nationalists, and then by 4chan trolls intent on triggering the libs, the well-known hand signals use points to deeper concerns.
The smirk that almost inevitably accompanies the OK sign, that simplest of hand signals, is the dead giveaway in the shroud of internet-age befuddlement: Does the sign, the thumb and forefinger joined together in a circle, the remaining three fingers splayed out behind, mean alls good? Or does it mean white power instead?
,,,
So what does it mean when someone flashes the OK sign? In the end, it can mean almost anything, but primarily its one of three things:
It can be a harmless use of its traditional meaning that alls well.
It can be an ironic attempt to troll liberals with a symbol chosen to trigger their inner SJWs.
It can be a surreptitious way of signaling your presence to other white supremacists.
So now you have been informed, and in the future you will be able to tell, from context, what this is intended to communicate.
I hope this has been helpful to you.
We have had a number of people attempt to troll DU in the past by taking photographs out of context and declaring it to be a White Power sign when it was clearly not, and a number of less-than-good-faith debates about them.
I sincerely hope that this is not one of those occasions.

They're still gathering evidence!

Stone was indicted for lying about his affairs with WikiLeaks and the Trump campaign as part of the investigation into a Russia-backed attack on the 2016 presidential election and then-candidate Trumps possible collusion with Russian actors.
Since his public appearances show Proud Boys by his side and recently designated Proud Boys leader Enrique Tarrio, a first-generation Cuban-American from Miami, standing with Stone and speaking out on his behalf, they appear as allies.

(3,234 posts)I know many here are pointing at Roger Stone but I feel that would've came out ages ago considering how much he's been investigated and even convicted.
I think it's Lauren Boebert who has direct ties to far right militia groups - The Proud Boys, Oath Keepers, and the III%ers.
Here she is in front of the Colorado state capitol posing with said members. She has direct access as a member of Congress to the upper echelons of her party and given her comments about 1776, I think this is a slam dunk.
