Bishop says Nativity School is no longer Catholic because it displays BLM & Pride flags

Tweet text:

James Martin, SJ
@JamesMartinSJ
News: Bishop Robert McManus of Worcester, Mass., has announced that the Nativity School there, a Jesuit ministry, can no longer be called Catholic because it displays a Pride flag and Black Lives Matter flag. (Most of Nativity's students are young men of color.) ...

Nativity's response:

nativityworcester.org
Statement to the Nativity Worcester Community | Nativity School of Worcester
Nativity School of Worcester An accredited, independent, Jesuit middle school that provides a quality, all-scholarship education to under served boys of all faiths.

"Nativity will continue to display the flags in question to give visible witness to the school’s solidarity with our students, families, and their communities. Commitment to our mission, grounded...

...and animated by Gospel values, Catholic Social Teaching, and our Jesuit heritage compels us to do so."

Bishop McManus's Decree: "Mass, sacraments and sacramentals are no longer permitted to be celebrated on Nativity School premises or be sponsored by Nativity School in any church building or chapel within the Diocese of Worcester."

and therefore no longer Catholic, as he is divorced from any resemblance to humanity and decency.

Bravo to the Nativity School for rejecting the decree of this reactionary Talibanesque asshole.

You're practicing bad theology, Brother McManus. Jesus commented on this extensively, and you're on the wrong side of the discussion according to his own words.

but there are scriptures that some interpret as being prohibitions against acting on same sex attraction. (Just as there are against eating shellfish and getting tattoos.)

But complaining about the BLM flag can only be interpreted as racist and/or political.

There are some verses that people like the bishop interpret as prohibiting *acting* on those attractions.

Personally, I think people should be free to love whomever they please as long as both are adults capable of giving consent.

I don't want to force chuches or religious people to accept my views on sexuality. But their rights end where my rights begin.

But it says a whole lot about what to do with those acting on it, or what will become of them:

Leviticus 18:22-23

Leviticus 20:13

1 Kings 14:24

1 Kings 22:43-46

2 Kings 23

Romans 1:26-28

1 Corinthians 6 –11

1 Timothy 1:8–11

So if he's not a xian, what religion is he?

This is what you "CINO" and "fake xian" accusers can't answer without looking like raging bigots toward non-xians.

Saudi authorities seize rainbow toys in crackdown on homosexuality

Saudi officials have been seizing rainbow-coloured toys and clothing from shops in the capital as part of a crackdown on homosexuality, state media has reported.

The kingdom opened to tourism in 2019 but, like other Gulf countries, it is frequently criticised for its human rights record, including its outlawing of homosexuality, a potential capital offence.

Items targeted in the Riyadh raids include bows, skirts, hats and pencil cases, most of them manufactured for children, according to a report broadcast on Tuesday evening by the state-run Al Ekhbariya news channel.

“We are giving a tour of the items that contradict the Islamic faith and public morals and promote homosexual colours targeting the younger generation,” an official from the commerce ministry, which is involved in the campaign, says in the report.

Gesturing towards a rainbow flag, a journalist adds: “The homosexuality flag is present in one of the Riyadh markets.” The colours send a “poisoned message” to children.
