I understand the need

to make Pence out to be the good guy... however, he is not a hero! he was just doing his job... he is just like everyone else who knew how disgusting Trump was for years and played along

the end of the line of his trump ass kissing and finally stood his ground and did his duty to the nation.

That's somewhat admirable, but he probably had an ulterior notion too. If he finally confirmed the EC votes, he gets rid of trump and in his thinking, 2024 would be open for him.
