So, the violence of 1/6/21 served 2 purposes for the orange anus

1. It created the chaos necessary, they hoped, to drive Pence and Pelosi (with the paper votes) out of the building, or murder them, and keep them from certifying the electoral vote thereby sending the votes back to the states, or submitting their fake electors. They ransacked Pelosi's office looking for the paper votes. Pence and Pelosi stood their ground against the mob.

2. It created the chaos necessary, they hoped, to allow the conservatives of like mind on the SCOTUS to intervene in the certification. Pence's lawyer already testified that Eastman told him he had two justices in the bag, Thomas, and one other (probably Alito). They only needed one with the shadow docket. The shadow docket was tried wih Alito, but he didn't have time - According to Eastman/G. Thomas emails, they needed chaos to intervene, TFG to declare martial law, etc.

(snip)

As for why Gohmert led the suit, Powell has publicly indicated that one reason was because Supreme Court Justice Samuel Alito has jurisdiction over his home state of Texas. Alito, Powell argued, might have bought more time for pro-Trump forces to reverse the results by blocking Pence from certifying Biden’s victory. (There’s no evidence Alito was considering this).

The Capitol riot worked in Powell’s favor but also against it, in her stated view: It delayed a last-ditch Jan. 6 attempt to seek Supreme Court consideration of Gohmert’s suit but also provided more time for Alito to weigh the suit that afternoon. The decision by Pence and congressional leaders to keep certifying votes after the riot dealt a mortal blow to Gohmert’s legal fight, Powell said.

“Had [Speaker Nancy] Pelosi not rushed, the outcome of the case could have been different, and the President as well,” Powell wrote on her website in September.

(end snip)

So the violence was planned - very much part of the plan. Thus Eastman's acceptance of violence in testimony today, and TFG's failure to call any one to stop it. They wanted it, they needed it.

People died and were injured. I hope there are charges premeditated murder and attempted murder, and assault,
Eastman and TFG inlcuded.

Always remember, too, that the traitors flung feces and urine through the halls of the Capitol.

IMHO.

Eastman even gave a damn about what the SC justices thought. Jacobs testified that Eastman admitted to him that they would not get more than 7 SC votes, and probably would get none. Then Eastman told Jacobs that it didn't really matter because SC would not even get involved on a political dispute.

So, effectively, Eastman was saying that he knew the SC would not back his plan and that it was illegal and unconstitutional, but so what? They could get away with it because the SC would not get involved.

I'm thinking one was Justice Silver (Thomas), and perhaps the other was Justice OfDonald (Barrett).

This country would have erupted into open warfare in the streets.

What could those two SCOTUS justices have been thinking ??????????????????

I'm begining to think that John Roberts has NO control over his own court. Can you imagine Earl Warren, Warren Burger or William Rehnquist ever being this weak ???

Now that we KNOW that the RW militias CAN be mobilized, lingering threat of violence overshadows every political issue. Next time a tinpot dictator calls his minions to violence, they will not have their weapons across the river in Arlington.

If there is ambiguity (real or imagined) in the 2024 election, I expect the opposition to repeat this sedition...this time with guns.

In any case, future political decisions will be made in the context of potential street violence.

This is new and unsettling.
