DoJ requests J6 Committee transcripts

Justice Dept. sends letter to Jan. 6 Cmte., requesting transcripts: "It is now readily apparent that the interviews the select committee conducted are not just potentially relevant to our overall criminal investigations, but are likely relevant to specific prosecutions."

But why do they need to be specific? The interview transcripts likely would be helpful in other pending prosecutions/investigations. And if there is to be a criminal referral (which a lot of people here want to see) those transcripts would be provided at the time....so why not now?
