(8,054 posts)I'm not sure why they're "demanding" he appear publicly. He's probably caught enough flak from Trumpers for a lifetime.
Why treat him like an enemy?

"Every member of this body should take offense to this notion that we should be expected to present our work to the federal government," McBroom told his Senate colleagues Thursday morning.
"I dont work for you," the senator added, referring to the U.S. Congress. "I work for and only answer to the Michigan Senate and the people of the sovereign state of Michigan. [snip]
McBroom disclosed Thursday that he had received a subpoena from the U.S. House select committee in December and answered "preliminary questions." The Senate Oversight Committee's report was not related to what occurred in Washington, D.C., on Jan. 6, 2021, McBroom contended.
McBroom chaired the MI Senate Oversight Committee which found "no evidence of widespread or systematic fraud" in the 2020 presidential election. Why he is this touchy about testifying in person isn't entirely clear, but apparently he was offended by receiving a "demand" rather than a request and has issues about state vs. federal sovereignty. I'd argue with him that while he serves in Michigan, he's an American not just a Michigander, and he needs to chill out. He isn't the only person from MI asked to testify, and the J6 committee later withdrew the subpoena anyway (who wants a witness this hostile, yikes) so it's no longer an issue.
