Having a disagreement with Daniel Goldman. Toobin opining that prosecutors shouldn't bring a case against Trump for trying to overturn the election. Goldman a little aghast. They do agree that Trump could be charged with inciting violence and putting people in danger.
Goldman "Trump lived like a mob boss" his entire life.

(5,542 posts)The sedition part is much more important than the riot part.
Looking at the responsibility for the riot alone really undersells what he was guilty of. More importantly, it really undersells the damage done to democracy.
But in truth, they are all part of the same big picture. Encouraging the riot was just step 200 of his 1000 point plan. So he should be held accountable for the riot as just one of the dozens of points listed in the sedition charging document.

(14,593 posts)wire fraud he perpetrated by collecting money to 'stop the steal' after he KNEW he lost. The House January 6 group presented the evidence of that for all to see.
He's lived like a mob boss, and they only way they'll get him is on something like this.

(269,187 posts)he is the country and the Constitution. He told the idiots that WE will remain president (😀😀 ), Mob boss doesnt quite describe him. Hes a mob boss on steroids.
Slobby: I will remain president even if I wipe out Congress and have my own VP killed. The latter is a wimp and a pussy for denying me my second term.
And yet the disgraced fucker still had to vacate the White House. And Obama won twice.
That still makes me laugh.
Fuck the fucking loser and throw him in prison.

(6,852 posts)Just as the hearings are a step in the path to his demise. We should be cautiously optimistic at this point. The rock is being nudged. The Po is dry. Las Vegas is unsustainable. Things are drifting toward resolution/revolution. Distopia is no longer a fantasy. All is well.

(2,657 posts)Toobin came down hard on Patty Hearst. In my opinion, there are two sides to that saga.
Also, why did CNN order and heavily promote that documentary in the first place? The kidnapping of Ms. Hearst and her involvement with her SLA kidnappers, which had occurred over forty years prior and constituted no more than a footnote in history at that point, did not warrant a documentary which focused on Ms. Hearst. CNN brazenly promoted the documentary with a snippet from the Hall and Oats song, "You're a Rich Girl, But You've Gone Too Far." I think that that Toobin, who once was decent book author about important political issues, found that he could make a lot more money with schlock journalism in his partnership with CNN.
