I saw Lightyear tonight (no spoilers)

I said in a few threads about the right going apeshit over one scene. I was taking my 10 year old cousin to this movie.

Overall. It was a fun and cute movie. I saw the infamous lesbian couple scene and guess what? My cousin asked no questions about it. Why? She sees it as normal. Same with most of the other movie patrons. Mostly families and no one made a sound or boo at that scene.

It was a fun movie and definitely worth a ticket. I loved that my cousin can see Buzz Lightyear in a different way than when I first did as a toy in the Toy Story movies. It felt fresh and original.

Plus my cousin got to eat popcorn and nachos because I'm just that awesome cousin. And gave her money to play in the arcade and we took photos together in an old fashion photobooth.

The lesbian scenes are early in the movie and I suspect most kids will have forgotten about them by the time it's over, especially since the scenes were so brief.

That being said, the twist in the back half of the movie played out like a character assassination and it really soured the movie for me as a whole. It just made no sense for that twist to exist when other choices would have been more than fine.

Still, the movie is another beautifully animated work from Pixar and those first 20 minutes or so are downright spectacular with that homage to Up and some interesting science familiar to anyone who has seen Interstellar.

So many of our children have friends with same sex parents. This is not shocking to anyone

Plenty of families there and no complaints. I don't think people really care and see it as normal. It's just another boohoo I'm a fucking crybaby wedge issue the right loves to use. It wasn't even a long scene. It was over and done with in less than 10 seconds

I haven't seen the movie yet, but if Sox is as cute in the movie as he is in the trailers, I'm in!

I thought that there was a plot whole relating to the "bad" guy. It wasn't anything that kids would pick up on.

21, 19, and 13 think nothing of gay people.

My youngest asked me why people are so weird about gender, he says no one really cares what someone identifies as they mostly care if they are a jerk or not.
