Trump is a lifelong villain. I do not believe he ever intended to leave the Presidency once he muscled his way into top office.
All those rallies of his since running for office, during, and since have not been to feed his ego. While it makes sense to think so, particularly after his focus on crowd size and his constant claims of being treated unfairly by the media, there is something much darker at root. He used his rallies for enculturation. Trump is a guy who kept a copy of Hitlers Mein Kampf beside his bed.
Trump learned early on to push past social norms and not give any ground. His growing connections to Russian mobsters and oligarchs gave him cover to stand up to anyone who got in his way and to play fast and loose with legalities. Money was funneled to him and his enterprises through Deutsche Bank, his casinos and real estate. He became a television celebrity with a star on the Walk of Fame. His celebrity gave his dark nature cover.
Trump was a mobbed up, Russian backed hustler and asset. With their support Trump was able to grab the White House and turn it into an extension of his empire. He filled it with family, sycophants, and nationalists-- firing anyone who would not do his bidding. Because more than half of the country would not submit to him, he demonized us to his base. He divided our country, communities, and families with the help of those individuals and entities he, and his monstrous connections, rewarded. He was never the president of all Americans.
Trump never intended to step down once he muscled into the Oval Office in 2016. He was there to stay and had a line-up of Trump heirs to succeed him once he eventually expired. He never believed the election was stolenhe was the thief. He is a criminal psychopath and needs to be locked away.
I also believe that if Mike Pence had gone along with Trumps request to use a power he did not have and fail to certify the electoral vote count he would have not been the V.P. for long. Trump would have cut him off at the knees and appointed a new V.P.likely a Trump. Pence was doomed either way he acted that day.
