Do you really think anything is going to change as a result of the findings of this committee?
(I just got finished watching an hour of comedy and I'm in a crazy mood. Just laugh...)

Trump gets indicted, the gun nuts go crazy, and America descends into chaos. Trump purchases a small island and leaves the US. | |

(56,539 posts)Committee's hearings are salting the earth and making another tfg presidential win really, really unlikely.
And that's a big deal.

(16,015 posts)That opens the door for DeSantis, Abbott, Hawley, or one of the other toxic idiots to slip in.
I think TFG is only in it for the grift at this point.

A traditional ceremony in the Capitol Rotunda is held but rumors circulate, possibly from pallbearers, that the casket seemed too light for the contents.
Meanwhile, a mysterious "John Barron" begins tweeting accusations that Democrats had Trump killed, which stirs MAGATs to chaos in the streets. Don Jr. eventually is elected Chancellor.

(8,592 posts)the nazis will descend on the Capital but this time law enforcement will be ready..that said, remember the Saturday after the election day when Biden was declared the winner...people poured out of there homes (and this was the height of the pandemic) and literally danced in the streets..I predict a a whole lot of street dancing if/when Trump is indicted

(60,748 posts)come out of his incitement of sedition and dereliction of duty on J6. There is no category in the poll for the descent into lawlessness and chaos over time our nation will experience because of trump, what with the nature of our extremely partisan, winger SCOTUS ruling in favor of the trumpist magats on matters of existential importance.
We're already in a low-grade civil war unleashed by trump. It will only get worse because there were enough idiots (and craven republicans who thought they could use/manage him) in the nation who thought an overweight, orange-haired, time-and-again business failure whose reputation as a business genius was hyped by a reality TV show, would make a great president.
He didn't, the presidency was w-a-a-a-a-y beyond his capabilities but he liked being president with its endless grifting possibilities so he refused to give it up without first trying to overthrow the government to keep it, and here we are.
Tell us how you really feel!
That was good!
Can I steal that?

(60,748 posts)and we had such a chance with Obama. Joe Biden is doing as well as possible trying to correct the messes trump left behind, but he's getting little credit.

(18,649 posts)My Fellow Americans is a 1996 American comedy film directed by Peter Segal.
It stars Jack Lemmon and James Garner as feuding ex-presidents, with Dan Aykroyd, Lauren Bacall, Esther Rolle, John Heard,
Wilford Brimley, Bradley Whitford and Jeff Yagher in supporting roles.
The film is named after the sentence for the traditional opening of presidential addresses to the American people.
THIS IS MY FAVORITE PART, Near the ending of the movie ::: Douglas and Kramer interrupt Haney's speech and take him to the Oval Office to talk. There they play Haney a tape of Witnaur's confession, but Haney denies knowledge of Reynolds' murder or the helicopter explosion. Haney agrees to resign and proceeds to give a resignation speech, claiming to have heart problems. Douglas and Kramer muse that the idiotic Matthews will now be elevated from Vice President to President and realize that the only way it could have happened was under these circumstances. The pair confront Matthews, who admits that he, not Haney, had engineered the entire plot so that he could become President, knowing Haney would take the fall. Matthews explains that his stupidity was just an act, but Douglas secretly records his confession on tape.
~~~~~ > Matthews is sent to prison.
(I wish there was a video of the fictional BAD PRESIDENT (John Heard) being led out of the White House in handcuffs !!!!
That is what i was to see happen to Trump
(1,182 posts)he'll be indicted, at least somewhere, either Georgia or New York.
If Garland's team charges him, then that will likely supersede state charges, and for now I'm wondering if he's holding his guns to see how those work out.
Not sure if that's wise, but, as they say, "I'm no lawyer".
moniss
(7,757 posts)that even if the Orange Ruski violated a 10 year old on camera the next GQP President is going to pardon him. Look at your most recent example outside of that circle. That would be Scooter Libby. Knowingly and openly lied to the FBI, the grand jury and obstructed the investigation into the role Dick Cheney played in going after Joe Wilson by outing Valerie Plame's status with the CIA.
"Worthless W" commuted the guilty sentence of 30 months claiming it was "excessive" despite the fact that the average sentence for those crimes was 70 months. The Orange Ruski then gave a full pardon. So I doubt whether any conviction of anybody for anything is going to stand once the GQP get the Presidency. State charges/convictions are the only real hope.
(31,123 posts)But he's been a world-class con artist/scofflaw for way too long, there are way too many psychos who worship him like a god, and I think the Democratic efforts against him have been lukewarm, at best. Would so love to be proven wrong.
(34,869 posts)I'm not hopeful and I'm not pessimistic, all I know for sure is that we were attacked and the people who attacked us need to be held accountable, just like any other terrorists would. I think we need to continue to pressure Garland and the doj and whoever has the power to do something.
In the end, if "nothing" happens, everyone who caused nothing to happen will be fully exposed and on record, alongside the actual terrorists and planners of the J6 attack.
For me, there will be no distinction between the planners, the foot soldiers and the officials who do nothing about the crime that was committed. Because I KNOW that had tfg been black and/or Muslim, there would be absolutely no hesitation to indict and prosecute. None whatsoever.
So I guess that's why I'm not pessimistic at the moment, because in order to be pessimistic it would mean that I have zero respect for or belief in the Democratic party leadership and cabinet choices. I haven't reached that point yet. If I ever do reach that point, I damn sure won't be posting here.
(6,716 posts)Because something comes along that deflates the morale balloon.
Let's wait to see what happens when these hearings are over. There may be some MAGAt rumbling here and there, but these people are basically cowards. In the long run, people who see what's at stake aren't willing to give up what they have for the sake of a mediocre old man like Donald Trump.
It's always right there at our fingertips, people. We turned out the largest single number of voters in the history of American democracy in 2020. Something is wrong if we can't hold that for two years. The Supreme Court is deliberately holding off on its Roe decision because it doesn't want to give Democrats motivation going into the mid-terms.
The DOJ will arrest Trump and he'll go to trial.
