Movie Theater in Oklahoma Says It Has Removed Controversial 'Lightyear' Warning Sign

A movie theater in Oklahoma removed a controversial warning sign about Lightyear after backlash.

According to KOCO 5 News, management at the Kingfisher, Oklahoma, 89'er Theater put up a sign that read "WARNING" in big letters on top, followed by, "Attention Parents: The management of this theatre discovered after booking Lightyear that there is a same-sex kissing scene within the first 30 minutes of the Pixar movie. We will do all we can to fast-forward through that scene, but it might not be exact. We apologize for any inconvenience this late discovery of this scene causes.”

The sign was originally taped to the front door, but after many people took issue, the movie theater removed it. While the theater's owner didn't speak on camera, they told KOCO 5 News that they never fast-forwarded through a screening, and the movie would continue to play unedited.

----

As reported by USA Today, the kiss scene was cut during the movie-making process and replaced with one depicting the two characters holding hands, but it was later added back in after it was reported that Disney donated money to politicians who supported Florida's "Don't Say Gay" bill.

There needs to be more displays of affection in movies and less violence. Teaching kids that it’s alright to love whoever you feel love for is much better, at least in my opinion, than teaching them to hate for idiotic reasons.

But a child covering herself in blood to keep from being murdered, they're OK with as long as their precious guns don't get taken away. Seriously in the grand scheme of things, the latter is nothing. Like I said, conservatives are so damn petty.

The license under which they are allowed to publicly perform the movie almost certainly prevents the theater from altering the movie in any way -- and speeding it up would violate that clause (as well as possibly violating the Copyright Act).

Which probably is why they never did it.

Ohhhh... BOO HOO! Your kid might see two guys or two girls kiss! Won't someone think of the children like Ben Shapiro or Empty Greene?! They just might be scarred forever!!!!

But taking your kid to a movie like Rambo, or to a gun show? All good. Nothing to worry about. Good clean healthy entertainment. It'll teach them to be a man. It'll give them a good, healthy outlook on life.

Kissing, bad.
Killing, good.

I weep for our nation.

It was number 2 at the box office this weekend.

The film made $52 million US box office opening weekend, and it's competing against Top Gun: Maverick and Jurassic World Dominion.

And...it comes from the company at the top of the Hard Right's shit list.
