What does "Accountability" mean to you?

In reference to trump, just him, what “level” of accountability is acceptable to you?

We all say it, we all want it, we all want to an able to hold trump accountable for his actions on J6 and the myriad of criminal dalliances before that infamous date.

Imprisonment? An indictment? Exile? What type of punishment is too much, which would be not enough?

A group of friends has been discussing this subject and the varied responses range from the firing squad up against his own “wall” to house arrest.

What would satisfy you that all has been settled so we can move on the best we can?

3. Prison and financial ruin

I want him completely ruined in every way. Now, I realize that's revenge talking, but I am furious at what he's done to this country.

To me accountability means punishment and banishment form the public eye, so to me that means prison.

Merde-a-log’o, however, would be long since uninhabitable. Perhaps underwater.

12. After the torture and abuse by US troops, the CIA, and NGOs at Abu Ghraib was exposed
Wed Jun 22, 2022, 10:29 AM
Jun 2022

(and not just at Abu Ghraib) Donald Rumsfeld made the statement that he takes "full responsibility" for what happened. He also apologized to the Iraqi people. Because, you know, saying you're sorry makes being tortured to death and rape all better.

He went on to finish out his life in peace, and very much free.

That's not accountability. He wasn't the only that got to, or is still getting to, live out their lives in peace and with their freedom intact.

Committing crimes while in office and being allowed to resign and live out the remainder of your life in peace and freedom isn't accountability either.

Elections aren't accountability when the person or persons in question have committed egregious acts and crimes against the government and the citizens.

Losing an election in no way mitigates the damages caused or lessens the crimes committed.

Revenge isn't accountability either.

I'm not seeking revenge.

Trump assaulted the democratic principles and institutions of our government. He was and still is the leader of a violent mob of people who not only engaged in an insurrection that resulted in deaths, but they continue to work toward their January 6, 2021, aims at the state level. To wit, to gain positions of power in order to overturn any election results they don't support.

Trump, his minions, and the mob have threatened private citizens and elected and appointed officials in an attempt to get them to break the law and change the 2020 presidential election results.

The rot runs deep and reaches the halls of Congress and the SCOTUS.

This can't be tolerated.

This has can't go unpunished.

And that punishment must be harsh.

It must send a message.

Not only for the currently guilty but for those who are definitely planning to continue the attacks on the government and its citizens.

Accountability must include prison time for all involved and I'm talking decades. There is no shame in a criminal president going to prison. There is only shame in allowing a criminal president to go free. It doesn't hurt the country to imprison a criminal president. It hurts the country to allow a criminal president to remain free.

It would include fines - heavy fines. And I mean fines that reflect the gravity of the crimes committed. He is earning money off his crimes, so the fines should be equal to the money he has collected from his crimes.

Again - a message must be sent.

I said it when Bush was allowed to go free - that the next wannabe tyrant will see how much they can get away with and will attempt to do worse. Same applies now.

A message must be sent.

That message must reverberate through the entire republican party, and they must feel it at their very core.

that won't happen, so jail time, and bankrupting sized fines. Cancel their citizenship until time is served and fines are paid, and make it a requirement that they sign a loyalty oath to the U.S. If they won't, then exile. They have gone far beyond a difference of opinion, or a vision for a smaller government. They conspired and committed crimes to overthrow their own country. They need to pay dearly.
