I can't see how that "puts the ball in the oil companies court". They don't set taxes. Surely that puts the ball in Congress's (or state legislatures?) courts?
OK, so I looked it up - it's a suspension.

Call that a gas tax? This is a gas tax: filling up a 55 litre (14.5 US gallon) tank costs over £100 in the UK now - $123. $8.80/US gallon.

(630 posts)Thought it when mccain proposed it during 08 campaign, think so now. It's a gimmick, not all that helpful, and at these prices people will still be pissed whether you do the holiday or not. In the meantime you short the federal highway funding.
