The January 6 Committee is an unconstitutional political sideshow. It is rapidly losing the interest of the American people and now resorts to siccing federal law enforcement on political opponents.

Decades before he became a central figure in Donald Trumps efforts to overturn the 2020 presidential election, Jeffrey Bossert Clark was a bespectacled teenager who grew up in Northeast Philadelphia and graduated from Father Judge High School with a string of academic and extracurricular achievements.
Those whove known him throughout his professional life have described him as a quiet and unassuming workhorse. Several of his former classmates at the Catholic school in Holmesburg say he was so unobtrusive they dont recall him at all. But on Thursday, Clark will find himself in a national spotlight as the congressional committee investigating the Jan. 6 Capitol attack focuses on his role in an averted plot to use the Justice Department to reverse the election results and hand Trump a second term.
Senior Justice Department officials have testified that Trump came close to appointing Clark then acting head of the departments Civil Division as acting attorney general after he proposed using DOJs powers to pressure state lawmakers in Georgia to contest the states election outcome. The plan ultimately fizzled when several DOJ leaders threatened to resign.
On Wednesday, federal agents descended upon Clarks suburban Virginia home in connection with the Justice Departments ongoing inquiry into efforts to overturn the election, The New York Times reported. Clark did not respond to The Inquirers requests for comment this week. But his role in the events now under scrutiny caught those who knew him in his Philadelphia days like former Father Judge classmate Walter Jahn by surprise.

Actually the (r)epuglicon party needs to do this with the majority of its members. Oh, wait - they won't have any power anymore...

(5,075 posts)The Justice Department (DOJ) has added two top prosecutors to its Florida-based investigation of Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-Fla.), The New York Times reported.
One of the prosecutors is a public corruptions investigator with expertise in child exploitation cases, and the other is a top leader of the DOJs public corruption unit.
The prosecutors have been working on the investigation for at least three months, the newspaper reported, citing people briefed on the matter.
One of the prosecutors is Todd Gee, who is deputy chief of the DOJs public integrity section within the criminal division. That section is involved in nearly all major criminal investigations into federal and local officials.

Eric Herschmann, a Trump White House lawyer, told the committee in a videotaped interview that Gaetz sought a pardon "from the beginning of time up until today, for any and all things."

(4,554 posts)Jordan didnt ask her for a pardon, but did inquire about the status of pardons.
I noticed that some news outlets are translating this into Jordan didnt ask for a pardon.
I think that is over-generalizing. Isnt it possible that Jordan might have asked for a pardon thru a different communication with the oval office/TFG? Just because she wasnt aware of a request doesnt mean he did not ask for one.
I am going to be kinda frustrated if it turns out Jordan comes out squeaky clean. I cannot stand this guy.
