(21,760 posts)My memory for names was never good and is steadily getting worse. I find it can help jog my memory sometimes Other times it doesnt but there is still things there that can inform you.

(146,317 posts)They're also useful for seeing how frequently a name I don't recognize has posted and how long that name has been on DU.
However, some people consider it to be stalking to look at their profile. And, yet, there is that link to someone's profile on every post they ever make. Why wouldn't a person check someone's profile, after all?
You're welcome to look at mine. I wrote it because I want people to look at it.

(146,317 posts)My favorite was my satirical piece about Congress appointing a well-known evangelist as chaplain. That one got a denial from that evangelist and some media coverage.
But, there have been a couple of other posts that got noticed, too. That's not my intention when posting, though.

I also check profiles often. I like to get a feel for the people I am having a conversation with. I have an inherent interest in people as a rule anyway.
