What's incredible is that so many people went along with a plan to overturn the U.S. Constitution

...A whole crew of Trump people were reasonably sure that they would get away with it. There was a plan
to overturn the Constitution and many went along with it. I don't know how many, but there were many.
The 1/6 riot, was only part of the plan, as was the Trump electors. All part of an entire plan to illegally
get Trump a 2nd Term. I hope we know more, so those who conspired can be indicted, tried and convicted.
One thing the planners never expected were these hearings that would expose it all of it to the country...
...........The planners expected to be successful and get away with it. That is obvious!!!......

It just wasn't successful.

If there are no significant consequences, they'll tweak it and try again.

Republicans have adopted a corporate/capitalist mindset. Reduce the risk, eliminate competition and market the hell out of it. Rule, don’t govern.

they're not even hiding their intentions really, but still I think you're right, people don't comprehend that this is a real and significant risk, especially with their stranglehold over a number of states. People in general still act like they are all convinced "it can't happen here" and just keep going about things like it's all just politics as usual. These people don't care about the rules, and are willing to do anything at all to gain and hold onto power.

Many have never read the Constitution and rely on Right wing media to tell them what's in there. It's also a document that requires some degree of reading comprehension skills and critical thought. So many of these MAGA folks get all jizzed up thinking that the govt is the source of all their woes and are not capable of thinking beyond their immediate actions.

at what point did these people decide it was okay to lie, cheat, and steal to get what they want? What happened to basic morality, not to mention the ten commandments which they profess to believe in?

I keep feeling like I'm missing something.

That said, the plan was very widespread, begging the question (to be answered) of "who could plan something so large and sprawling?" Given that such a skill is uncommon, that's probably easy enough for investigators to guess and build a case.

Obviously, all expected success and field promotions rather than pardons. Ultimately, much as "free speech" is protected, meaning that there's a fuzzy line to cross, and the internet spreads things like a chain reaction, CONVERSELY, "all" violence is local, personal and all against the law, and even RWNJ cops can't sit around.

Exceptions: Uvalde, and The Capitol attack, which was heavily an inside job, set up to succeed by smug Professor Moriarty types pulling off a major deception. However did it fail? Well, there's your next "Titanic" movie.

Now, there's a distinction between this and the widespread fake elector scheme, more of an ex-military type? Should be interesting.

That they probably believed that all is fair in war and owning the libs.

For 4 years, Trump and the Republicans used their political majority to shield themselves from so many fucking crimes that this seemed to be their Grand Finale, all perpetrated while having legislative, executive and top-level judiciary cover in place to all but ensure its success.

We truly owe the momentary survival of the union to the actions of a few odd bedfellows, most of whom are among the most detestable people on the planet, but for one moment, they acted righteously.

They are simply hate filled, racist, bigots in every sense of the words. The listen to what FOX tells them (used to be Rush) and they can't explain one damn thing about what they are doing.
