For presentation purposes the Committee had Hutchinson as the sole witness today, because (a) she saw a lot and (b) she recently hired new lawyers and got out from under Trump's lawyers.

For convenience they did ask her about things she was told by others.

THIS IS NOT A TRIAL.

Yes, if it is a trial, you want those percipient witnesses.

No, for the purpose of the hearing today, it is fine to ask her what those witnesses told her. Again, the J6 committee already has testimony from Engel and Ornato.

Now, as for the RW nonsense being posted here. Neither Engel nor Ornato has denies what she said. Some idiot on twitter has a "source" that says someone would contradict her.

Yeah, a "source". My bet is that his source is John Barron.

Finally, understand what that says. If Trump is a passenger in the vehicle and has a “different view on the topic” of where to go, you have to forget everything you know about Trump to think it was some rational exchange of opinions.

Remember, Pence would not get in a Secret Service car to leave the Capitol on 1/6. What does that tell you about the trustworthiness of the Trump White House Secret Service? And what kind of person would Trump pick to be in charge of his Secret Service detail? Engel must have been vetted to be a true believer Trumper willing to lie for Trump. The committee needed insider testimony for that day to establish Trump's state of mind. She provided it.

This woman did nothing wrong and was not involved in the plot to attack the Capitol. So she had no incentive to tell the committee lies. She was not giving her testimony to get herself a lighter sentence. She is doing it out of civic duty, and despite threats against her by Trump World goons, and Trump trashing her.
