The most important part of Hutchinson's testimony was the fact that trump knew the insurrectionists had lethal weapons, said outright that they wouldn't be used on him, wanted the security measures relaxed to enable the criminals to come to the rally and wanted to go to the Capitol to be with them. THAT'S the important part, not Trump's behavior in the SUV or Beast or whatever the hell. We know he's a goddamn psychopath already, and that scenario is totally believable. But let's not feed into the propaganda and lies that are being used to discredit Hutchinson.

(60 posts)He said for four years he was tough on China.
It's our fault for thinking he meant the country and not the crockery.
Me.
(35,454 posts)because it confirms he is a violent man prone to acting out fits of anger. all along the way there has been claims of this, like from his former wife and this confirms it in a pretty graphic way as does throwing plates of food against a wall a fury.

(7,901 posts)He was going to be there to watch and cheer on the mayhem and murder, if not lead it himself.
It was the gory celebration he had planed for himself to empower his rage over losing the election. He wanted to be there to dominate Congress.

testimony. A shame they let her repeat what was essentially gossip.
We all know he is capable of that behavior, but in the long run, only provable truths will stand.

(35,454 posts)see the Tapper tweet for one. And this committee isn't sloppy, I'm willing to bet they have back-up for whatever she said and will reveal it later. What I want to know if that Pete guy was the same one who was supposed to drive Pence away as has been said but no collaboration yet.

Hutchinson was very credible. The SS thing is only about what Ornato told her in the presence of Engel. Those two guys will get called back to clarify their testimony. She has no reason to lie about it, maybe they do.

(5,270 posts)Alyssa Farrah spoke out in defense of Cassidy Hutchinson and Jake has tweeted that she sees the dispute about the SS incident in the car in light of Ornato having lied before. Implication that he may be lying now in denying having told Hutchinson about Trump's actions in the car.
Farrah said that in June 2020 she told Meadows and Ornato that they needed to warn press to leave Lafayette Sq to prevent injury and they failed to do that. She says that after the attacks on the crowd including press members that Ornato denied she had told them of need to warn press to clear out.

(40,212 posts)His alleged behavior in the SUV is important evidence. It points to intent. His explosive conduct, insisting he be taken to the capital indicated his determination to go into the House chamber, along with an armed mob, and seize power. It was part of the coup.
He actually did mean it when he said I am going with you. He wanted to be driven to the Capital to meet up with the insurrectionists.

The "take me to the Capitol" seems like his typical bluster. Even to his own inner circle.

(2,739 posts)but finally deciding the safest option was to talk to those meeting there wasn't played up and I feel sure we will get more testimony on the topic another time. But that's the first testimony that I know of that directly connects a senior staff member of Trump's with the coup plotters before the Insurrection.
I include that in important revelations today.

That's going to take a while. Dollars to donuts he'll be pleading the Fifth on that one

(11,811 posts)...too much credit. She's a die-hard republican, who witnessed a lot and still kept her mouth shut. She's either trying to mitigate any legal exposure she may have, getting her name out there in preparation for a book, or getting ready for the speaking circuit. Pick whichever one makes you feel better, but it's definitely one of those three. But, at the end of the day, she's not on our side, and we should take her testimony for what it is. Nothing more.
Bucky
(54,027 posts)I will grant her this: she's brave and she's honest. She's no doubt getting death threats and losing employment opportunities among the corrupt elite. She's technically doing the right thing.
But sure, she wouldn't be Republican if she wasn't preparing to cash in on her fleeting moment of notoriety

Her new attorneys are pointing out she has potential to make a name for herself here if she stands our from the other witnesses in the fold.
She was a decent witness, but she's not end all. What she said she actually was witness to is more than enough to make her testimony valuable. The rest was filler, in my opinion. It frustrates me the filler got too much media coverage.
