Hutchinson was dissappointed because Trump had done so much good for the country

She said that yesterday.
Look, I applaud Hutchinson and Cheney for doing the right thing. The Lawlessness and Treason was too much for them.
But just remember they supported everything that Trump did while in office and would like to have seen it continue. We need people form the Administration to testify, but make no mistakes where their loyalty lies.
I get that it was brave of her to testify, but being honest and law abiding shouldn't be that high a bar, though for most of the modern GOP it is.

So often, Trump would say or tweet that the economy was the greatest ever. His minions would repeat that on the various news shows, and it was very very rarely challenged by the media, and even the Democrats that might be on with the Trump minion. The Trump economy had low unemployment that he inherited from Obama, mediocre GDP growth, job growth & wage growth BEFORE the pandemic, all the while adding $1 trillion/year to the national debt in supposedly the greatest economy ever.

I stopped watching so many news shows out of frustration about the economy. Too often it would go like this:

Host: Would you care to comment on (Trump's crazy statement or tweet that day)
MAGA rep: Greatest economy ever, who cares?
Dem rep: Sure, the economy is good, but...

and nobody hears an f-ing word after the "but..."

At some level, they know their hero threw them to the dogs to save his own ass. The blatant fact that he didn't give them all a pardon proves it........He could have easily given a blanket Pardon to any and all, but he had Jared "arrange" pardons based on a certain amount of money they coughed up under the table. The Trump Cabal never missed a chance to grift.........

In another post I said:

Anyone and Everyone,

involved in any capacity in this mess, whether found guilty or not, whether pardoned or not,

should be stripped of all their assets except for a few hundred bucks and the clothes on their backs,

and immediately have their U.S. Citizenship and Passport taken away, and deported to Russia.

to empathize with these people because it's all just so absurd. Their reality, their reaction and response to the atrocities, a portion of which you have done a great job enumerating, is beyond our comprehension.

But here's my try. Those horrible, wasteful, demeaning and soulless "accomplishments" the ditz raved about are, in their minds, great and necessary works but and as importantly, they are works which the Democrats have heretofore denied them, thus threatening the best of civilization. In their minds the radicality and ruthlessness they used for implementation were necessary because their purpose is so important, so God-stamped. They feel that their righteous remedy would not have been so disruptive had the Democrats simply not left some important thing undone as long as they did, allowing the "problem" to grow out of proportion. We are so frustrating for them. Of course, we usually feel that they're hallucinating issues that don't exist and doing so at the cost of perpetuating issues that do. It also doesn't escape our notice that their solution to every problem involves assisting rich people at the expense of poor people, management at the expense of labor, the strong at the expense of the weak. It's a pattern which reveals a peculiar world view and essentially a warped and unavoidably violent take on reality.

The mafia boss still has the majority terrified. The d.trump brown shirts are still "standing back and standing by". A goddanm sexual predator, con man, a family of grifters all known before his election and somehow this POS is still inserted into the office of prezdent...I have lost a lot of respect for the office and politics in this country. All this is banana republic bullshit. I really don't see Amerika's poisition in the world regaining any semblance of pre-trump standing.

President Obama gave me hope that Amerikkka had found a path out of the sordid genocidal past of this country. Slavery had poisoned forever the psyche of white and POC I thought. Then after President Obama a seasoned knowledgable politician was trashed by the COMPLETE mainstream media, idiots by the millions believed it and gave d.trump enough votes to somehow seem legit.

BAM!!!What a POS we ended up with. I will remain suspicious of his victory to my dying day. Especially since his BFF had huge hacking farms for d.trump working to skew the vote. And when he met with his BFF and would not let one person in that room I knew the game was afoot. He came out of that meeting looking like Pukins beaten dog.

subhead: An honest account of what transpired on January 6 and the days leading up to it would have been pretty helpful during Trump’s impeachment.

It wasn’t exactly a mystery that Donald Trump was a vindictive goon who encouraged acts of violence among his supporters and treated everyone in his orbit like trash. Those were known knowns long before January 6th. They were known knowns long before November 8th, 2016 too. Lots of people were very clear about this. And she stuck with it over the course of a slow-motion coup that was quite easy to see happening from the outside. It was apparently even easier to see that happening from the inside. Providing an honest account of those days is the minimum threshold of accountability the public is owed after all this.

The #1 narrative that the Magats have right now is trashing Ms. Hutchinson. Explain to me what good a thread like this does to make Donald trump and his inner circle accountable for attempting to destroy our democracy?

I doubt that the people posting negative comments here ever took on powerful people. I got a little taste of it in my little borough of 2,000 people. I had many sleepless nights, and yes, there were even death threats involved.

Ms. Hutchinson is the bravest person in America, I can't imagine the pressure she had thrown at her.

Ms. Hutchinson is my hero, too bad other Republicans don't have her courage.

That her political ideology aligns in-part (or wholly) with the Trumpist agenda only makes her stand against his attempted coup all the more heroic.

It is easy to stand against one's opponents.

How many college kids do you know that have their political priorities straight at that age? They're more worried about what bar they're going to on Friday night, rather than who's running the country.

Now that Cassidy has seen the inside of the Chump administration, I'm sure she'll never get fooled again.

I had a cousin who had a terminal illness during Chump's reign (now deceased). Hardcore Republican who looooved him because he "gave them everything they wanted". When pressed on all of the good he'd done, she couldn't give me an answer, just a smug look. Mindboggling.

That line really jumped out at me as well. Up until that point I just assumed she was a kind of Washington nerd in the sense of an ambition to work for the highest offices of the land in a patriotic duty way. And her family happened to grow up being Republican, so she was naturally working for them. But it seemed like, up til then, she was more of a professional aid worker than a Trump cult follower.

Disappointing, but as others said here, her saying that gives the committee and the charges more credibility.

self loathing would probably have rendered her incapable of testifying publicly.

Maybe the best thing Trump did for our country is to fuck up so badly he lost.

are like the townspeople in the fairy tale "The Emperor's New Clothes". All the evidence is right in front of them and they can't see it. They have been brain washed, bamboozled, fooled and faked. I don't know how we fix that.............
