(25,471 posts)If the DOJ is going to investigate him, I guarantee they don't give a shit about what he thinks.
He'll claim it's a political act, regardless of the timing or circumstances.

(25,471 posts)he believes that the DOJ should abandon their publicly-stated policy to not discuss ongoing investigations and tell him what he wants to hear, because telling him is more important than maintaining secrecy. He's just hiding it behind "but, what will Trump do?"
Sounds like half of DU.
I like Tribe, but sometimes he doesn't really help and/or tends to be a bit sensationalist. This is one of those times.

(25,471 posts)Mukasky, Holder, and Lynch all issued similar memos, all in March or April of the election year, and all titled "Election Year Sensitivities". Barr's position was similar.
Claiming election interference now isn't going to fly.

(1,670 posts)It's just his newest grift and that policy is exactly what Trump is hoping for.
It's time to pursue criminals regardless of the criminal aspirations. Otherwise I think everyone should use it as a defense.

Trump is willing to talk to Putin about Mueller, but not to Mueller about Putin. What kind of president has that kind of disloyalty to the United States? Laurence Tribe

You can hear current Capitol insurrectionists saying it right now. They don't understand rule of law, and mistake their loyalty to one man for loyalty to their country. They never gave thought to what he might have meant when he said 'my interests are America's interests.'

(9,375 posts)unlike himself, have a lot of skin in the game and are, unlike himself, accountable for the consequences of their words and actions. It is far too easy for a casual observer (which, despite his credentials, Prof. Tribe certainly is) to make faulty assumptions based on absence of insider knowledge, and every time Prof. Tribe does this, he appears a little less wise.
I see no evidence at all that announcing investigations or prosecutions of Trump prematurely will make any positive impact on the outcomes of elections, or otherwise. Rushing those announcements, on the other hand, may well impact the eventual success or failure of the aforementioned investigations and prosecutions.
