Cheney is saying they may send criminal referrals to The DOJ. The traitors are committing more crimes trying to protect themselves. That never ends well.

(14,764 posts)It's likely some outside third party, not an insider who sent the texts. Maybe even a lawyer, or possibly, a congressional staffer.
While the doj is struggling with a lack of spine when it comes to family and close insiders, they seem willing to charge outsiders and small players.
This may get picked up if the house refers it.

(82,849 posts)The committee has not overpromised its testimony and evidence and they've been very scrupulous about following through. This mention of witness tampering wouldn't have gone public if they didn't have the goods.
People who have yoked their defense counsel to the former guy's attorneys should take a hard look at Hutchinson's testimony this week and ask themselves if what's best for the former guy is what's best for them. Before they walk into the thresher blades, that is. Because once the former guy decides to sell you out (and he will), you'll find the advice you're getting from your bought-and-paid-for-by-the-former-guy attorney aligns with his interests rather than yours.

(5,844 posts)It isn't a coincidence that they ended Tuesday's hearing with witness tampering. That's a preview of what's to come. Cheney specifically said she wasn't going to name the individuals when she read the messages Tuesday but be certain she knows exactly who they are.

(32,645 posts)... all they needed to do was look on her phone or her emails.
If other witnesses have shared their phones and emails, probably (I'm sure) there's a pattern to the threats.
Liz Cheney is right to mention it, because now they know they've already been caught.

(12,157 posts)but the intimidation is stronger if the recipient knows who its coming from. So maybe they didnt try to obfuscate the senders identity.
Also, of course, these doofuses are both over-confident and technologically inept, so theres that.
Will be most interesting to see how this plays out. Great job of foreshadowing by the committee.

(2,351 posts)The other slide the Capitol riot committee unveiled at the end of its hearing with Hutchinson this week quoted an unnamed witness, now known to be the former Trump White House aide herself, describing multiple phone calls she received from allies of the former president.
