(3,582 posts)I only used it for dial-up AOL at that time
No wonder I haven't been called by pollsters

(58,685 posts)at the time, I needed a landline to order pizza. Cell phones didn't work for that, apparently, at the time.

(7,646 posts)the landline to cell phone when I'm home. I like the ANI (Automatic Number Identification) feature on the landline also. The good news is that my provider is a Co-op that actually acts like a co-op (it's rare these days even for those that are co-op) and I haven't paid a phone bill in over two years because of the credits I get every year.
I seldom get scam calls on the landline - much more so on the cell phone. It is ridiculious that the FCC doesn't stop these - the do-not-call lists don't seem to work well or maybe without them it would be even worse.

(10,228 posts)I guess why they like to use land lines its that they know were someone lives. I didnt change my cell phone number when I moved to another state, and based on incoming calls I think thats very common.

(10,836 posts)Had a land line in TN bc of a package deal on TV & internet. But even then, I never picked up unsolicited calls. Too many scammers.
Since moving to PA, we rely on our cell phones. Same rule applies--unless I'm expecting an out-of-contact call I won't pickup.
