Mississippi House Speaker Philip Gunn (R) told reporters Wednesday it is his personal belief that if a 12-year-old girl is a victim of incest she should still be made to carry a resulting pregnancy to term.
I believe that life begins at conception and every life is valuable. Those are my personal beliefs, Gunn said.
A reporter then asked, So that 12-year-old child molested by her father or uncle should carry that child to term? to which Gunn replied, That is my personal belief.

(6,180 posts)And this man is the speaker of the house in Mississippi!
Apparently the 12 year old's life isn't valuable, because his "personal belief" didn't take the effect this would have on her into account.
What a terrible man!

(18,634 posts)Because that doesn't inconvenience Philip Gun at all.
The only moral value these guys hold is, "will it inconvenience ME?". If not, they are all for it.
If it results in the destruction of someone's life, it isn't their life so why not support it?
If it results with the death of the pregnant child, it isn't their child so why worry about it?
Except in the case that it IS their child.
Then their views quickly do a 180 and they want the law reformed.

(635 posts)Forcing a child to give birth to a rapist's baby is sadistic and immoral. Period. Every life has value except for the poor pregnant child who is the victim. She apparently has no rights whatsoever. This is evil.

(1,783 posts)...radtrad media like EWTN and (Ir)-Relevant Radio, this has been the de rigueur thought-terminating cliché for the last decade (at least). I don't know why it hasn't had more exposure elsewhere. But the fundamentalists and radtrads are always into one-upmanship and poaching each other's followers, so it was bound to go "mainstream", if you can call it that. And that's how you have a politician deep in the (fundamentalist Protestant) Bible Belt of Mississippi who sounds like one of the talking heads on EWTN rhapsodizing about "life from conception to natural death".
Garbage like this is what Richard Pryor called "the logical conclusion of the logic".

(1,962 posts)Perfectly healthy and safe for kids: Getting shot in school. Being taken to a gun show. Going without food. Being subjected to Fux Noise or grOANN. Getting raped. Being forced to have kids.
Absolutely dangerous to kids: Rainbows. Hearing the word "gay." Seeing a drag queen.
You can't make this shit up anymore. The stupidity and insanity, it burns... us.
Of course, the only "children" really being traumatized by seeing a drag queen are "children" like Ben Shapiro, Charlie Kirk, Rot DeSatan, Drumpf, etc... Small-minded snowflakes who quit growing after their 4th birthdays.
