1. That's such an outstanding response from Director Buttigieg.

I imagine Wallace was set back on his heels after thinking he cleverly set him up.

He is so knowledgeable, bright and quick witted. He would do a fabulous job as a future President

4. If your insurance covers such maternity care

the states will be forced to air emergency dying women to other states or risk liability from insurance companies. At least that seems to me what would happen.

So there's 1 million or so miscarriages a year. That is a lot of potential liability for a lot of backwater states.

Thanks Pete for understanding the issues are not just black and white.

9. Abortions in the 3rd trimester were WANTED children, by women who wanted to be mothers

Women don't wait until they're 6-7 months pregnant and then decide to abort just for the hell of it. These are women who WANTED to be mothers. They're aborting AGAINST their desire, because it's either that or an even more horrific outcome.

It infuriates me that the RW thinks women are frivolously using late-term abortions as birth control.

"Look, these hypotheticals are usually set up in order to provoke a strong emotional..."
Oh, they succeed. I'm so damn angry to have to agonize through the same arguments we had 50 years ago, attempting to bring some sense of critical reality to the short-sighted, knee-jerk reactionaries thinking that banning abortion solves anything. It's where I set them up with the hypothetical, Okay, you're poor, you're pregnant, you know there's no way you can take care of a child. What are you going to do? Of course, I get the "shouldn't have" arguments that I don't let them slide with. Water under the bridge. Answer the question.
Eventually it's the "It's not my problem" cop-out.
Then you got 'em: "Then why is it your decision?".

That response is so brilliant! And Secretary Pete is one of the brightest people there are. Someday, when younger people have taken over and are hopefully leading our country to a better place, he should definitely be elected president. The song that comes to my mind now is "There's a Place for Us" from West Side Story.
