Religion & politics. I worked with a woman whose husband was a congressional lobbies for the 7 day

Adventists. His job was to keep religion out of the political sphere and lobby for separation. He said many of the main stream religions had positions like his in the past but over the years most changed direction. Now there was just one other religion left supporting that idea (don’t remember which one). Made me think more highly of that denomination.

observance of the Sabbath on the first day of the week (Sunday) is "the Mark of the Beast" as mentioned in the Book of Revelation. They are champions of the separation of church and state. I admire them greatly. (For the record, I'm an inactive member of the United Methodist Church.)

…since they’ve also been in favor of “religious freedom” laws that allow employers and landlords to discriminate against people of whose “lifestyle” they disapprove. In their view, current law “forces” religious people to “condone” behavior they find immoral.
