Two more friends have tested positive for Covid.

That makes 5 friends/family who have tested positive in the last 10 days who were vaxxed and boosted. So far, the worst symptoms feel like a bad cold.

Covid is still out there, even if some want to believe it's over. Don't let your guard down.

Our family. 2 had very mild symptoms like a bad cold. Mine were a bit worse. More like the flu. All of us vaxxed and boosted. Lasted a little over a week.

I think I am through the worst of it but it was pretty scary when it got to my lungs.

WEAR YOUR MASKS, EVERYBODY! Yes, they suck, but not nearly as bad as this stuff.

Of the 25 in my group (all at least vaccinated, and most boosted) who contracted COVID there were 3 individuals who described their symptoms as severe. (Most have not described them).

I've been careful (still masking everywhere but outdoors and - when there wasn't an easy alternative on our trip, for one meal a day). But taking care is less protective when I'm sharing a room with someone who isn't being careful.

4. I'm back to limiting myself to one EARLY trip to the stores, per week

because I see that more and more people aren't masking.

Oddly, I had to pick up a prescription at Walmart the other day and a LOT of people were wearing masks.

I'm skipping out on my nephew's 'couple's shower' at the end of the month, and most likely will also miss his wedding in November (It's in Florida. Matt Gaetz's district. I figure that makes it plague central.)

others standing and waiting for service.

Sorry about having to miss these celebrations. We've missed a bunch too. We'll have an afternoon 4th BBQ with a handful of close family but leave when they head to neighbors' for a party this evening. At our ages sequelae from a serious case could put an end to healthy, active living. We get updates on their struggles and progress after Covid from a few close friends. And so many others keep getting repeat cases that we lost track a long time ago.

At least 9/10 and probably 19/20 (or more) were unmasked.

Which means they don’t understand what masking is for, or they don’t care about spreading the virus.

When I balance the cost for delivery against my usual impulse buying, I might be saving money.

I know 3 people in our town who have had it last month! All vaxxed and boosted. And I still stay home most of the time. All over it and doing well.

14. I contracted COVID 21 days after my second booster -

Theoretically at the peak of immunity. I was traveling at the time and delayed my booster so that I would be at peak immunity to protect me from getting COVID in the week ahead of traveling and during my dive trip. During my travels, I ate one meal a day indoors, in a space which was approximately 20% filled. The rest of my time was spent on an open-air boat or underwater, and all other meals were in an open-air space or completely outdoors. We are now up to 25% of the 100 individuals on the trip who have disclosed they contracted COVID, all of whom were vaccinated, most of whom were boosted at least once - and many twice.

My brother, grand-niece, and former employee all contracted COVID while traveling as well in the same week.

My symptoms were extremely mild (scratchy throat, enough snuffles to use fewer than 2 dozen tissues, and some coughing). The symptoms of the disease itself lasted 3 days. Now I wait and hope I don't end up wtih shingles, a stroke, heart attack, or any of the other thing we know increase in the months and years following COVID (or things we find out a decade or so increase with COVID). So far no symptoms of long COVID.

The most disturbing thing is that the first leg of my flight going home carried 8 of us from the trip. After the fact, I have learned that 5 of us had COVID (and were almost certainly in the infectious stage). One, again I learned after the fact, was running a fever the day before the flight AND tested positive the day before the flight AND was unmasked on the flight. Of the remaining 4, I was the only one wearing a mask. About 95% of the plane was unmasked.

My sister in law is undergoing experimental cancer treatment. If she gets Covid, she will miss an appointment and be removed from the study.

I had it in December 2021. Staying home was the hard part. I was all set to go grocery shopping and hubby said he had Covid. Well, so did I. And we were out of food.
